Matthew Kowles brings a polished vision to his interiors, combining classical and modern elements in an effortless balance.  He finds beauty in many forms, with a keen eye for quality, be it in the rich grain of an antique chest, the profile of an urn, the sinuous leg of a chair, the texture of a painting or the slickness of freshly applied lacquer.

Raised in New Hampshire, Matthew has spent the past 25 years as a New Yorker.  His design aesthetic blends urban luxury and traditional comforts—always with a healthy dash of humor!

Upon completing a BFA at the Tisch School of the Arts, Matthew enjoyed several years as an artist and performer before studying at Parsons School of Design. He began his career in design at Diane Paparo Associates working alongside a talented team of architects and designers and cut his teeth on residential construction and design projects throughout the Tri-State area.

In 2007, Matthew joined the staff of the illustrious Charlotte Moss Townhouse and stayed with the company in various capacities for the next twelve years. His role shifted and expanded from licensing and special projects to eventually designing and managing full-scale interiors installations in New York City, East Hampton, Houston, Palm Springs, Denver, Aspen, and Vail.

Since 2019 with the formation of Matthew Kowles LLC, Matthew is pursuing design and decorating projects large and small, with the goal of helping clients present their best selves in beautiful spaces tailored to suit their needs and aspirations.
